How to tame a 5 month old Lovebird??? How do you handle it????
l have had her for about, a little more than a week. l can handle her, but
l can not grab her.She just flies away!!! How do l handle her??? How do l
tame her??? Thanks!!!
ok i went through this too! i know how hard it is! they can nip
so either prepare for it or wear gloves. if you do get bit do NOT pull away
then the bird KNOWS how to get you away. try talking softly to her, offer
her her favorite treat by hand. GENTLY stroke her. get her used to ur hand
& let her know hands are GOOD! this MAY take a week or two! then comes
hand-taming. after she is used to ur hand gently rub ur curved 2 finger
against her middle-lower stomach & say ''step-up'' after each try praise her & giver her a treat. remember to say ''step-up'' EVERY time. then once she understands it she will go up once you say ''step-up'' & you won't even have to rub! i know how HARD it is my lovebird is a little devil! It took my 6 months! & she is only 10 months now! it MAY take a loooooong time! It took my 26 month old cockatiel 9 months before she did it without the rub! but to this day the little devil (i love her she is just bad with manners. besides that she is a SWEETY!) STILL bites me when i try to get her out. lol
ahemm they dont like to be touched; never grab a bird, if you
wantt contact, extend your finger to him so he will perch in it; if he
doesnt at the beginning he might with time and if he doesnt want to dont
force him
